2012

Inception
Previously known as Auckland Microfinance Initiative (AMI), our founder Alex Li started the club to empower young people with tools to assist microfinance organisations, delivering change through pro-bono consulting and research services.
2014
Countries Impacted: 2
Expansion in Knowledge-Sharing
Our club successfully connected students with the renowned Grameen Bank.
We also started internships in Myanmar, deepening students’ understanding of financial inclusion.
2016
Countries Impacted: 4
Australasia Collaboration
We worked with 5 other universities in Australia to organise the Global Microfinance Case Competition. Students work on a LIVE case for a week, coming up with suggestions to create genuine change in communities.

2017

Gaining Traction
Our club grew in international presence, working on new projects in Kenya, USA and India.
We also established our Professional Development program, aiming to equip consultants with a more robust skill set.

2018

Transitional Change
Our club transitions towards a fresh approach, including projects in the Fintech and Social Enterprise space.
Professional Development remains a core focus, and the University of Auckland GMCC team emerged as champions.
2019
AMI Rebrands to ICG
With the maturity of the social enterprise scene, our club decided to double our impact by working with social enterprises while retaining our core of working with organisations in the financial inclusion space.
Our rebrand means that we can expand our reach while remaining true to the services we’ve provided over the past 8 years.
